WOMEN AND GIRLS

Burridge Cricket Club is one of the leading set-ups in South Hampshire with four men’s teams, headed by the First Eleven playing in the Southern Electric Premier League, and around 130 Colts between the ages of 7 and 15.

In 2006 the Club was strengthened further with the move of the former New Forest Ladies team to Burridge where they play in the newly-formed Hampshire Women’s League.

Besides matches at weekends, the women use the impressive Burridge facilities for weekly training sessions.

Captained by Denise Phillips, the team is sponsored by Southampton restaurant Kutis Brasserie. It is hoped to provide cricket for girls by attracting enough younger recruits to allow Burridge to field a team to play friendly matches.

Winter Nets are happening every week and will continue to do so until early April. The ladies train at Wildern School on alternate Sundays (11-12). For those ladies who wish to get in extra practice there are slots available at Wildern from 4-5 on Sundays because the under-15s do not take all the space.

Summer Nets will be on Tuesdays – Senior men’s and ladies club night.

Women and girls interested in joining the new set-up at Burridge can contact Denise Phillips via the Club.
