| Having
reached the season halfway stage, won 5 lost 4, Burridge were in a good
position to move up the table if they could defeat the teams who had
previously beaten them.2 weeks previously that had happened against Soton
Dynamos, last week the weather won and now it was time to seek revenge
against North Baddesley but again the weather forecast was not good. In
overcast conditions Burridge got off to a slow start with openers failing to
deal with the troublesome Williams. John and especially Jeff then set about
building a match winning total. Others
chipped in creating quite a good total on a slow and deteriorating pitch. The
rain came during the tea interval but both teams were keen to re-start. NB
got off to an okay start reaching 30 before losing their first wicket but the
rain continued to fall. This did not appear to deter Burridge especially as
tight bowling was rewarded with wickets. Eventually the rain forced a break
in play causing a loss of four overs. Reduced targets usually favour the
batting side but Burridge ripped out NB's middle order before they had time
to dry out. There was some resistance in the tail but too little too late.
The bowling figures reflect a great all round performance. Who needed the
captain who could only watch sheltering under a tree. |
