Gutted! The league positions were decided before the start of this game but this was another of the return fixtures where Burridge wanted to avenge a earlier defeat. Burridge were put into bat on a drying and quite lively wicket. The total rose steadily throughout the innings with patient knocks from John and Pete. Batten the young spinner put pay to a good total which seemed at least 25 short of a competitive total. Another good not out inning from Alex H. Ben and Alex bowled as well as they had all season and Langley were struggling to get going. There was an expensive drop in the first few overs and the batsman went on to score 78. The game see-sawed as wickets began to fall. Even though there was only pride at stake both side realised the game was in the balance and the spectators as well as the players were enjoying the tense finish. Burridge created a winning position needing to take one wicket, 3 overs to go and 12 runs needed. But the game slipped away with the sinking sun matching the feeling of the players. A great game played in a good spirit, shame about the result. Burridge had been beaten twice by the teams above them, confirming a third place finish.
