paper this should have been a straight forward win, Trojans were bottom of
the league but had a couple of key players who had to be watched. Winning the
toss Burridge chose to bat. The target was 200 but tight bowling made scoring
slow. Dave very sportingly walked when stumped even though the Trigger Bevan
gave not out whilst looking the other way!Jeff got a start and John continued
his end of season form. All the top 7 had a start but no-one really dominated
the bowling. 180 should have been enough but Trojans had other plans and
attacked from the start. Skipworth did not take Dave's lead and failed to
walk after a clear edge. It does not take much to get Alex ticking and
chuntering and his revenge would come later. The captain took another good catch
at short mid wicket (2nd week in a row) but his bowling was being put on the
club house roof. Once the two Trojan slappers were gone it was really a
matter of time before victory was secured. Not for the first time Ben was
probably the pick of the bowlers without reward. A satisfying win against the
leagues lesser sporting sides |
